The Embassy (SE)
The Embassy was formed in Gothenburg in 1999 by Fredrik Lindson (vocals) and Torbjörn Håkansson (keyboards, mixing). The duo are playing a melodic blend of disco, twee-pop and pub-rock which is often beat-driven and shiny enough to be mistaken as commercial pop. Described in music media as perfect soundtrack to a drunken barbeque or beach party, the Embassy was one of the most influential bands from Sweden in the early 2000s. In combination with their anti-rock aesthetics and disrespectful live performances, the Embassy has been both loved and loathed. The duo has released three albums and an handful of singles and EP’s, i.a. by the now legendary Swedish label Service (Jens Lekman, Tough Alliance etc). Their debut album “Futile Crimes” won Manifest and Nöjesguiden prize for best Swedish album in 2002. Duo’s second full-length „Tacking“ (2005) further exemplified the band’s self-described style of “underclass disco” and won them critical acclaim both locally and internationally. The Embassy’s latest album „Sweet Sensation“ came out in 2013.
